Positive Affirmations For Moms Who DON’T Have It All Figured Out!
This morning as I happened to glance in the mirror, I saw that I was looking ugly!
My son and I were brushing HIS teeth (read battling with a brush) as I saw those frowns!
What was I thinking and feeling that made me appear that miserable?
And right in the middle of the battle, the next thought brought tears in my eyes.
Something suddenly reminded me of the times I was in the hospital and dying to just get back home and do these same *ugh* things with my son. I realized when I will have to go there again for baby #2 (due soon!), I know the hours there will stretch loooong, like they do in those hospital beds.
It would hurt to think how my son will:
- eat his lunch
- get into bed at sleep time
- OR brush his teeth with anyone but not ME?!
And as quickly as this realization had occurred, that brush time battle started feeling more fun!
…
I want to think and feel about all home tasks like that ALL THE TIME.
And lately, positive affirmations have been THE BEST for bringing me back on track and filling my mind and heart with gratitude and better feelings.

So, What Are Positive Affirmations?
In the simplest words, when you say something nice (like positive, motivating, encouraging, happy etc) to yourself in your head or in your heart or even out loud so that it boosts your morale or makes you feel better,
…that is a positive affirmation!
We also use positive affirmations with kids or other people but that’s a topic for another day. Today, we’ll talk about keeping our own spirits high with these positive words.
For example, here are a few positive words for moms you can call positive affirmations:
- I am a courageous mother. I can do it!
- Self-care is caring for my family.
- There are seasons in life and seasons don’t last forever, this too will pass.
- etc
One line affirmations are easier to keep in mind but you can use longer or shorter, whatever you like and it works for you.

I wanted to collect some powerful affirmations for stay at home moms to help myself and others like me. You want to conscientiously use positive affirmations not just verbally or in your mind but as physical reminders (like in the form of cards, wall art etc) too.
Here why:
How Daily Motivational Cards Help – The Science & Philosophy Behind
1. Have you heard of the Law Of Attraction, or watched the movie The Secret?
(Side note: Pleeeease watch the movie ‘The Secret’ if you reeeeally want to feel powerful and motivated today!)
Okay, here’s the summary. In the simplest words, it says,
You have the ability to feel, think and speak things into existence.
Please don’t disregard this as fluffy stuff unless you watch the movie.
So whatever you feel, think or say, be it negative or positive, it starts happening. And positive affirmation cards can come in handy if we want to stay on track to creating positive experiences throughout our day.
(Be careful though, not to affirm what you DON’T want. Instead, use clear positive and affirmative statements.
So instead of saying, ‘My kids don’t hide things from me’, you can say, ‘My kids feel confident sharing problems with me.’)
2. If you write down your daily affirmations in your planner, journal, blank daily affirmation templates, sticky notes or wherever you write your stuff, scientifically, that physical act of writing down our goal improves the chances of its success by 40+ percent.

Take out one affirmation card each day and do one of the following:
- Put one next to your daily planner page as you plan the next day
- Stick it on the fridge with tape so it stays in front of your eyes. Like the psychology of advertising, when you look at them again and again, the message will stick to your mind over time.
- Tuck a card into the corner of your mirror so when you look at your face and in your eyes AND read a power message side by side (out loud if you have to), the power of these words truly sinks in.

Every time I’m down, I think about the struggles of the moms who created these, having larger families and greater challenges to tackle (like having four babies in 3 years, no multiples!!) than I do. When you’ll see it over and over throughout the day, you will remember the message in case anything trips you into your grumpy mode.
