Number practice movement activity for kids at home. Use this gross motor literacy game for your toddler or preschooler to practice numbers.
Here’s another number practice game we played.
It is also a good hand-eye coordination activity for your kids.
Material Required
You need:
- 10 Paper cups (we used Ikea glasses)
- 10 Loose paper sheets
- Tape
- Marker
Instructions:
Take had of the loose papers and let your child have fun tearing them into halves and quarters.
Then crumble each piece so it becomes a tiny paper ball. Collect all the balls into a basket.
You want a lot of paper balls.
Now, take the rest of the 5 pages and tear them into half. Then write 1 to 10 numbers on those 10 pieces of paper.
Now place those numbered pages in random order on the wall and put a cup below each page.
Here is how our complete wall looked like.
Let the fun begin.
Give your child the paper balls and give him a random number and ask him to throw that many balls into its cup.
First, he will have to identify the number.
Then he will have to count the right number of balls to throw into it.
Aiming to throw the balls into the cup will be a challenge too. My son dropped the balls a jazzillion times before he could complete all the ten numbers I asked him.
Here’s how a cup looks from the inside.
Cup number 3 has 3 balls.
This game is very easy to set up and will keep your child engaged for an hour at least.
Have fun!
